A Failed Attempt to Complete a Circuit over Cumrew Fell
The idea was to follow the track towards Cumrew and climb Cumrew Fell from the south. However, when Sweep and I got to where the path crosses the tributary of the River Gelt (New Water) the recent rain had taken the water level abover the stepping stones. The remains of the bridge for the railway was there but the crossing was impossible without getting very wet. Sweep didn't mind but I did. We gave up, turned back and did the circuit back to Jockey Shield via Old Water.
